Cognitive Assessments
I offer Cognitive Assessments in Wheathampstead, near St Albans in Hertfordshire as an Associate for CAYP Psychology.
What is a Cognitive Assessment?
A good Cognitive Assessment includes assessment of several areas of a young person’s abilities and experiences:
Different ways of thinking and processing, for example verbal reasoning, problem solving, visuo-spatial skills.
Listening and comprehension, writing, reading and numeracy skills.
Functional skills, for example skills of independent living, communication, and social skills.
Mental wellbeing
Cognitive assessments can be used to further understand specific learning difficulties (such as dyslexia or dyscalculia), intellectual disability and giftedness.
They are helpful in understanding the impact of strengths and difficulties in a child’s life, including their psychological wellbeing and their education experience.
The information from Cognitive assessments is often a very helpful part of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
